Ghana Eyes Gold as Shield Against Dollar Dependence
Ghanaian parliamentarian Gideon Boako has called for using gold to reduce the country's dependence on the US dollar and strengthen economic sovereignty.
In an effort to minimize external shocks and currency shortages, Boako believes that accumulating locally mined gold could provide additional protection against foreign exchange risks.
The parliamentarian emphasized that Ghana's gold strategy should involve retaining a larger share of gold's value within the national economy, rather than solely relying on traditional mining and exports.
