Ghanaian Cedi Continues Downward Trend Against Major Currencies
The Ghanaian Cedi has continued its downward trend against major currencies on September 8, 2026. According to Cedirates.com, a reliable platform tracking daily currency and fuel rates, the average buying rate for US dollars at forex bureaus is GHS11.75, while the selling rate stands at GHS12.15.
On the Bank of Ghana's interbank market, the cedi trades at GHS11.39 for buying and GHS11.40 for selling against the dollar. For British pounds, the average forex bureau rate is GHS15.30 for buying and GHS16.30 for selling, while the interbank rate is GHS15.44.
The Euro also saw a decline in value, trading at GHS13.13 for buying and GHS14.02 for selling at forex bureaus, with an interbank rate of GHS13.26. In the money transfer space, LemFi and Taptap Send are offering competitive rates, with dollar remittances from the US or UK to Ghana available at GHS11.40 each.
