Global Economic Trajectory Takes Center Stage This Week
Investors are bracing for a pivotal week ahead as key economic indicators and central bank decisions take center stage. On Friday, the US will release its August nonfarm payrolls report, which is expected to show modest job growth after contracting by 23,000 in July.
Deutsche Bank economists project headline nonfarm payrolls to rebound by 65,000, while Wells Fargo anticipates a gain of 80,000. The US unemployment rate is expected to hold relatively steady at 4.1% or edge up slightly to 4.2%, and average hourly earnings are forecast to rebound to a monthly pace of 0.3% to 0.4%, preserving an annual nominal income expansion of around 4%.
Fed Chair Kevin Warsh's hawkish signal at the Jackson Hole symposium suggests that price pressures remain the central bank's primary concern, increasing expectations for a rate hike at the September FOMC meeting.
