Global Economy on Trial: Key Indicators and Central Bank Decisions Loom
Investors face a crucial test of global economic trends in the week ahead, centered around key indicators and central bank decisions.
The US August nonfarm payrolls report on Friday is expected to rebound with a gain of 65,000 jobs according to Deutsche Bank economists, while Wells Fargo anticipates an increase of 80,000. The unemployment rate is projected to hold steady at 4.1% or edge up slightly to 4.2%, and average hourly earnings are forecast to rebound by 0.3% to 0.4%.
The Federal Reserve's hawkish stance under Chair Kevin Warsh emphasizes the focus on price pressures, reiterating that inflation is running above the 2% target. This guidance suggests a rate hike at the September 16 FOMC meeting remains likely.
Outside the US, attention turns to Eurozone inflation data due out on Tuesday, expected to show consumer prices accelerating to an annual rate of 3.3% to 3.4%. The Bank of Canada will announce its latest monetary policy decision on Wednesday, with consensus expecting the policy rate to remain unchanged at 2.25%.
