Global Markets Decline Amid Wall Street Slip and Bond Sell-Off
Global markets declined on Wednesday, following a slip in stocks on Wall Street. World shares tumbled as investors digested a sell-off in the global bond market.
The S&P 500 future lost 0.3%, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average's future dropped 0.1%. Early European trading saw Britain's FTSE 100 shed 0.6% to 10,726.68.
In Asia, Tokyo's Nikkei 225 plummeted 2.9% to 64,325.64. Market heavyweight SoftBank Group fell 6.4%, while Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix declined by 4% and 4.7% respectively.
The Shanghai Composite index slid 1% to 3,941.39, with Shein, the fast-fashion online retail giant, dropping 5.2%. The U.S. dollar fell to 159.84 Japanese yen from 160.17 yen.
