Gold Edges Higher on Slipping Dollar Amid Inflation Expectations
Gold prices ticked up on Tuesday as the US dollar slipped, putting investors in focus mode for upcoming inflation data. The release could shape expectations of the Federal Reserve's next policy move.
The price of spot gold rose by 0.1% to $4,407.27 per ounce at 0645 GMT. U.S. gold futures for December delivery fell by 0.6% to $4,452.10.
Chris Weston, head of research at Pepperstone Group, observed that 'gold remains locked in a battle between buyers and sellers, with neither party showing enough conviction to drive a sustained and persistent directional move.'
