Gold Edges Up as Dollar Eases Ahead of US Inflation Data
Gold prices rose on Tuesday as the US dollar eased ahead of key inflation data releases in the United States. The spot price of gold climbed 0.6% to $4,429.89 per ounce, while December delivery futures remained steady at $4,475.10.
The decline in the US dollar index by 0.4% made gold more affordable for buyers holding other currencies. However, analysts noted that gold remains locked in a state of indecision, with neither side showing conviction to drive a sustained market move.
Chris Weston, head of research at Pepperstone Group, observed this trend, saying 'Gold remains locked in a battle between buyers and sellers, with neither party showing enough conviction to drive a sustained and persistent directional move.'
