Gold Prices Bounce on Weaker US Dollar Ahead of Inflation Data
The gold price rose slightly on Tuesday as the US dollar weakened, making gold and other precious metals priced in dollars more affordable for holders of other currencies.
Market participants are awaiting fresh inflation data that could influence forecasts for the Federal Reserve's future decisions. The spot price of gold increased by 0.1% to $4,407.27 per ounce, while US gold futures for December delivery fell 0.6% to $4,452.10 per ounce.
The dollar index fell 0.3%, and analysts expect the market's concern about the signals being sent by the Federal Reserve and the Treasury Department to be more important than any rate change itself.
