Gold Prices Dip Near $4,050 Amid US-Iran Talks Uncertainty
Gold prices dropped to near $4,050 during the early Asian session on Tuesday as uncertainty surrounding US-Iran talks weighed on investors. The precious metal had rallied recently due to tensions in the Middle East, but the pause in planned airstrikes against Iran eased some of that pressure.
US President Donald Trump said his latest offer of talks was a 'last chance' for Iran, and he expected negotiations to begin soon to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and address concerns about Iran's nuclear program. However, Iran denied negotiating with the US, but stated progress was being made in talks with Oman.
Analysts at Commerzbank noted that the outlook for gold remains constrained by expectations of Federal Reserve interest rate rises. They argue that ongoing speculation about further tightening limits investors' willingness to chase the recent rally.
