Gold Prices Eye US Inflation Data Amid Interest Rate Speculation
Gold and silver prices are expected to be influenced by several factors this week, including US inflation data, crude oil price movements, and geopolitical tensions in West Asia. Analysts believe that the upcoming US Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation report for August 2026, scheduled for release on September 11, will be a key trigger for bullion markets amid speculation over interest rate outlook.
Investors will also keep an eye on consumer price data from Germany and China, GDP figures from the Eurozone, Japan, and the UK, as well as China's trade data this week. According to Pranav Mer, Senior Vice President of EBG - Commodity & Currency Research at JM Financial Services Ltd, US inflation numbers will be crucial for bullion markets.
Last week, gold futures for October delivery fell by 2.2% to Rs 1.52 lakh per 10 grams on the Multi Commodity Exchange, while silver declined by nearly 2% to Rs 2.37 lakh per kg. Gold prices remained under pressure after stronger-than-expected US jobs data boosted expectations of a rate hike later this month.
