Gold Reaches $4,420 as Dollar Dynamics Shift
The US Dollar Index is consolidating at lower levels, while gold continues its rebound and awaits a breakout from the current trading range. Spot gold has extended its gains in early Asian trading on Tuesday, reaching around $4,420.
The primary drivers of the gold market have shifted from pure safe-haven demand to a recalibration among monetary policy expectations, US dollar dynamics, and geopolitical risks. With July's nonfarm payrolls unexpectedly weaker and recent inflation data broadly moderate, market bets on further monetary tightening by the Federal Reserve have cooled markedly.
This has put downward pressure on the dollar and reduced the purchasing cost of dollar-denominated gold for holders of other currencies. The market currently prices in a 35% probability of a rate hike at the Fed's next policy meeting, lower than the approximately 47% level a month ago.
