Gold Stocks Shine as Inflation Revives Interest in Bullion
Gold is back in the spotlight as investors seek refuge from inflation and a weakening US dollar. This renewed interest has created opportunities for gold-focused stocks, including three companies highlighted by Simply Wall St. Ora Banda Mining (ASX:OBM) is a gold producer with operations in Western Australia, providing direct exposure to bullion prices. The company reported A$807 million from gold production and exploration in Australia, with a market value of approximately A$2.9 billion.
Ora Banda's pure gold exposure makes it appealing when investors focus on bullion and related infrastructure. However, the outcome depends on how one unseen pressure affects future cash flows, specifically, the impact of rising costs on profitability.
Another company benefiting from the gold theme is Prosegur Cash (BME:CASH), which connects the gold and custody theme through its vaulting, transport, and digital asset safekeeping services. The business generates approximately €1.1 billion from Latin America, €670 million from Europe, and €179 million from Asia-Oceania & Africa, with a market value near €963 million.
Prosegur Cash's expansion story in emerging markets remains a key driver for future growth, particularly in Latin America and Asia-Pacific, where population growth and urbanization are expected to broaden the company's client base and underpin revenue growth. However, if rising costs and inflation impact its earnings power, this growth story could stall.
Torque Metals (ASX:TOR) offers indirect exposure to bullion through its Paris Gold exploration project in Western Australia, as well as hunting for lithium, nickel, and cobalt. The company currently records about A$0.1 million from gold and other precious metals, with a market value near A$141 million.
