Google Drops Euro Check Payments for AdSense Publishers
Google has quietly phased out euro-denominated checks as an option for AdSense publishers. The change became effective on August 7, 2026, but was not publicly disclosed until eleven days later.
The removal of euro checks is a currency-specific decision rather than a blanket ban on paper payments. Publishers in the euro area who receive dollar-denominated checks can continue to use this method without interruption.
A single paragraph added to Google's support page notes that effective August 7, 'Google will no longer support Euro-denominated check payments.'
However, the notice is placed at the bottom of a section covering country-by-country payment availability and is not easily accessible. This has led some publishers to miss the change, including those who rely on paper checks for their AdSense earnings.
The euro check withdrawal reduces exposure to failures in the payment pipeline, such as undelivered address verification letters, which have resulted in monetization losses for some publishers.
