Goyal Pushes Japan to Invest in India's Emerging Sectors for USD 30 Trillion Economy Goal
India's Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal met with senior representatives of major Japanese financial institutions in Tokyo to discuss expanding long-term investment ties between the two countries. The meeting brought together representatives from MUFG, Development Bank of Japan (DBJ), Mizuho, Morgan Stanley, Nomura, and Nippon Life.
Goyal highlighted India's strong economic fundamentals and investment opportunities across emerging sectors. He pointed to India's 7.7% economic growth last year as a testament to its resilience in the face of global uncertainties. The Minister also emphasized India's goal of becoming a USD 30 trillion economy by 2047.
The Japanese institutions expressed their interest in participating in India's expanding opportunities in technology, manufacturing, and clean energy. MUFG highlighted its investment of around USD 4 billion in Shriram Finance, while DBJ discussed its India-focused strategy and interest in areas including property development and venture capital.
