Goyal Seeks Japanese Investment in Semiconductors, AI, Clean Energy
India's Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal made a pitch to Japanese financial institutions during his visit to Tokyo, highlighting opportunities in sectors such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, clean energy, advanced manufacturing, and digital infrastructure.
Goyal met with senior representatives from leading Japanese financial and investment institutions, including MUFG, Development Bank of Japan (DBJ), Mizuho, Morgan Stanley, Nomura, and Nippon Life.
He emphasized India's economic resilience, citing a 7.7 percent growth rate last year despite global uncertainties, and expressed the government's commitment to improving the ease of doing business and creating a more seamless investment environment.
The minister identified semiconductors, AI, data centers, renewable energy, green hydrogen, advanced manufacturing, and digital infrastructure as major areas of opportunity for Japanese investors, highlighting India's expanding renewable energy capacity and national power grid as a strong foundation for energy-intensive digital industries.
