NielsenIQ (NYSE: NIQ) has launched its new EU5 FMCG Inflation Barometer, a monthly tracker of inflation across five Western Europe markets. The first edition reveals significant differences in inflation rates between countries.

The data shows that Great Britain recorded the highest FMCG inflation at +2.3%, while France and Italy reported the lowest inflation at -0.4% and +0.6%, respectively. In contrast, Homecare and Paper Products are in deflation in all five markets.

NielsenIQ's Client Director Benjamin Cawthray noted that FMCG inflation had slowed to +1.1% across Western Europe's largest markets by May 2026, reaching its lowest level of the year as pricing pressures eased.
