Great Britain Tops EU5 Grocery Market Inflation Rates
NielsenIQ's new EU5 FMCG Inflation Barometer reveals that Great Britain has the highest inflation rate across Western Europe, at +2.3%, followed closely by Germany and Spain.
The tracker is a monthly analysis of the five largest Western European grocery markets, France, Great Britain, Germany, Italy, and Spain, and shows significant differences in inflation rates between countries.
France and Italy have the lowest inflation rates at -0.4% and +0.6%, respectively. The Barometer also tracks department-level inflation, price elasticity, and how shoppers are adapting to higher grocery costs.
In Great Britain, Non-Alcoholic Beverages recorded the highest inflation rate (+4.4%), followed by Confectionery & Snacks (+2.8%) and Frozen Food (+2.7%).
