Guzman Denies Departure Rumors as Defence Investment Agency Faces Challenges
Doug Guzman, CEO of the Defence Investment Agency (DIA), has reassured staff that he is staying at the helm after reports emerged about his potential departure. In an email to employees, Guzman addressed the rumors and denied being frustrated with bureaucratic delays in defence procurement decisions.
Guzman acknowledged that he had discussed his role with Prime Minister Mark Carney's office but emphasized that he has no intention of leaving. He cited the agency's progress in advancing significant acquisition decisions across various domains, including submarines, Arctic radar, and rifles.
The DIA was established last November to speed up military purchasing amid a broader sovereignty push. Guzman, a former banker, was recruited by Carney from the Royal Bank of Canada, where he earned $9.23 million in 2024.
