Harris Leads Irish Delegation at G20 Finance Ministers Meeting
Tánaiste and Minister for Finance Simon Harris will attend a meeting of G20 finance ministers in North Carolina, US as part of Ireland's ongoing EU presidency role. The two-day trip will also include meetings with the new British chancellor of the exchequer John Healey and Canada's finance minister François-Philippe Champagne.
The event brings together finance ministers and Central Bank governors from G20 nations to discuss the global economy, focusing on energy security and financial stability this week. As part of Ireland's EU presidency role, Minister Harris is attending alongside European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde and EU Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis.
In related news, EU defence and foreign ministers will meet in Ireland this week to discuss various matters including Russia's ongoing war in Ukraine and EU security. Defence ministers from 17 EU member states will arrive in Ireland for an informal summit chaired by Minister for Foreign Affairs and Defence Helen McEntee.
