Hayes: Yen Support Could Boost Dollar Liquidity, Trigger Bitcoin Rally
Arthur Hayes, co-founder of BitMEX, believes that U.S.-Japan cooperation to strengthen the yen could boost dollar liquidity and trigger a Bitcoin rally.
In his analysis, Hayes outlined three possible scenarios for yen support. The first involves aggressive interest rate hikes by the Bank of Japan, which would have far-reaching implications for global markets.
The second scenario involves Japanese institutions selling overseas assets and repurchasing domestic assets to strengthen the yen by reducing foreign currency supply.
Hayes argues that the third and most likely scenario is for Japan's Ministry of Finance to use its substantial holdings of U.S. Treasury securities as collateral with the Federal Reserve, effectively injecting dollars into the global financial system and increasing dollar liquidity.
