Herbalist Exposed: Seven-Year Scam Involving Counterfeit Currency and Rituals Uncovered in Oyo State
A 50-year-old suspected herbalist, Tijani, has confessed to operating a fake money ritual scam for about seven years in Oyo State.
The scam involved using counterfeit currency, herbal soap, and traditional rituals to defraud unsuspecting clients. The suspect, along with three others - Dapo, Saheed, and Karim - were allegedly linked to the possession, circulation, and production of counterfeit Euro currency following a police interception.
Tijani disclosed that he combined his herbal medicine practice with 'Guy man', which he admitted as a fraudulent activity. He claimed that the scam began when customers who bought herbal preparations started asking for solutions to financial problems.
The suspect explained that the victims were convinced by promising them quick money and using traditional practices inherited from his father, who was also a herbalist.
