HKMA Closely Monitors Market Development After US Fed Interest Rate Decision
The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has responded to the US Federal Reserve's decision to keep interest rates unchanged at 3.5-3.75 per cent.
The HKMA noted that the policy decision aligns with market expectations and reflects a stable labour market, but elevated inflation remains a concern.
Hong Kong's monetary and financial markets have continued to operate smoothly, with interbank rates largely influenced by US dollar counterparts and local market conditions such as seasonal factors and capital market activities.
The HKMA warned that US interest rate adjustments may influence the interest rate environment in Hong Kong and advised the public to manage interest rate risks when making decisions about property purchases, investments, or borrowing.
