Hungary Unveils Sweeping Grid Upgrade Plan

Hungary is investing heavily in its grid infrastructure, with a program worth 1.25 billion Swiss francs aimed at improving grid resilience and automation.

The plan also includes smart metering and has been supplemented by a second investment tranche of around 2 billion Swiss francs.

This additional funding will cover advanced metering infrastructure, the addition of 4 gigawatts of wind capacity by 2030, and public-private partnerships.

Swiss companies are being invited to enter the Hungarian market through various procurement routes, including direct tenders, local partners, or Tier-1 engineering, procurement, and construction consortia.
