IASB Names Former Bank of England Deputy Governor as New Chair
The International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) has appointed Woods as its new chair. Woods will take over from Andreas Barckow, who stepped down in June after completing his two-term tenure.
Woods is a financial regulatory expert and former Bank of England deputy governor. He will lead the IASB for a five-year term starting 1 October.
This change is part of a larger leadership shift at the IFRS Foundation, triggered by senior officeholders completing their terms and leaving the organization. The appointments follow 'planned succession arrangements', resulting in three new senior leaders.
