ICE Canola Futures Maintain Momentum Amid Bearish Factors
Canola futures on the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) maintained their positive momentum on Wednesday despite some bearish factors. The Canadian dollar's slight appreciation against the US dollar added pressure on canola prices, but the commodity continued to rally.
The oil market remained relatively stable, with crude oil showing little movement in response to reports of Houthi rebels attacking a Saudi oil tanker and progress towards the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. However, Chicago soyoil was down, while European rapeseed was mostly higher and Malaysian palm oil was mixed.
The ICE reported 41,612 canola contracts traded on Wednesday, with spreads accounting for 18,628 contracts in today's trade. Settlement prices were up across the board, with November canola futures rising by $5.30 to $766.00 per metric tonne.
