Illinois Unemployment Rate Falls to 4.9% Amid Record Payroll Jobs
The Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES) reported that the state's unemployment rate fell to 4.9% in July, down 0.2 percentage points from June.
Total nonfarm payrolls saw a fifth consecutive over-the-month increase, reaching a record high of 6,176,400 jobs.
The industry sectors with the largest monthly payroll jobs increases included Private Education and Health Services (+6,200), Trade, Transportation and Utilities (+3,800), and Professional and Business Services (+3,700).
