India Hits Record High in Foreign Exchange Reserves
India's foreign exchange reserves have reached a record high of over $740 billion for the first time, according to data from the Reserve Bank of India. The reserves surged by 11.4 billion US dollars during the week ended August 28th. This is a significant milestone for the country's economy.
The largest component of the reserves, foreign currency assets, increased by 9.3 billion US dollars to $600.6 billion. Gold reserves also added 2.1 billion dollars to $116.4 billion. However, Special Drawing Rights declined by 43 million dollars to $18.8 billion.
The country's reserve position with the International Monetary Fund dipped by 11 million dollars to $4.9 billion. The increase in foreign exchange reserves is a positive indicator for India's economy and can help stabilize the currency and attract foreign investment.
