India has resumed talks with Zambia to explore investment opportunities in copper and other critical minerals. The discussions, which began on August 26, aim to secure overseas sources of raw materials to meet India's growing demand from its rapidly expanding economy.

The Indian Ministry of Mines held preliminary talks with Zambian officials, but the two sides did not discuss a stalled project that had halted talks earlier. This project involved an area of 9,000 square kilometers awarded to India last year, and its revival was contingent on assurances from Lusaka on mining rights.

Khanij Bidesh India Ltd, India's main vehicle for securing critical mineral supplies overseas, is evaluating investment opportunities in several countries, including Australia, Brazil, Canada, Russia, and Indonesia. The company is also in talks about a project in Malawi.
