Indian Equity Market to Open Steady Amid Firm Regional Cues
The Indian equity market is expected to open on a steady note, supported by firm regional cues and improving risk appetite across global financial markets. The GIFT Nifty Futures are up 4.50 points at 24,659.50, indicating a muted start for the domestic market.
Asian share markets rose after a soft US jobs report pared the risk of a near-term rise in borrowing costs. The Nikkei jumped nearly 2 percent, while Hang Seng and KOSPI were up half to a percent each.
The US stocks advanced on Friday after data showed the US economy unexpectedly shed jobs last month, dampening expectations for a September interest rate hike. Brent crude added 0.9 percent to $84.32 a barrel due to lack of progress in Gulf peace talks and shipping disruptions.
