Indian Forex Reserves Surge to Record $676 Billion
India's foreign exchange reserves have reached $676.24 billion as of July 17, marking a significant increase of $1.08 billion from the previous week. This growth helps strengthen the country's buffer against global economic uncertainty and currency fluctuations.
The primary contributor to this rise was a strong increase in foreign currency assets, which climbed by $4.55 billion to reach $551.06 billion. These assets include currencies such as the euro, the British pound, and the Japanese yen, and their value is affected by changes in exchange rates and market conditions.
Meanwhile, gold reserves saw a decrease of $3.48 billion, bringing the total value to $101.75 billion. This decline is largely attributed to market price fluctuations of gold in the international market rather than a change in the physical quantity held by the central bank.
