Indian Markets Open in Red Amid West Asia Tensions and Hawkish Fed Commentary
India's markets opened in the red on Monday, weighed down by escalating conflict in West Asia and hawkish commentary from the United States Federal Reserve.
The BSE SENSEX fell by 284.52 points or 0.37% to 76,979.99, while the NSE NIFTY 50 declined by 58.10 points or 0.24% to 24,117.55.
Ajay Bagga, a banking and market expert, noted that global markets are facing three headwinds: rising oil prices due to tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, the Fed's hawkish stance on inflation, and Nvidia's earnings report.
Bagga added that Indian investors should adopt selective positioning rather than broad-based optimism, citing a mixed earnings season, a below-normal monsoon, and elevated crude prices as concerns.
