Indian Rupee Strengthens Against Aussie Dollar Amid RBI Intervention
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has intervened in currency markets, causing the Indian Rupee to strengthen against the Australian Dollar. The AUD/INR cross is currently trading at ₹67.7882, a decline from its previous price. This move comes after the RBI's direct intervention, which injected liquidity and reinforced rupee stability.
The RBI's actions have had an immediate impact on the AUD/INR cross, reducing the Australian dollar's relative value in this pairing. The strong rupee has been driven by record levels of foreign-exchange reserves, according to Bloomberg. This central bank action is expected to continue influencing currency markets in the short term.
Techncially, the AUD/INR pair is positioned below both its MA-20 and MA-50 moving averages on the H1 chart, indicating resistance from these short- and medium-term averages. The Ichimoku Kijun at ₹68.1649 marks immediate resistance overhead, while the MA-200 at ₹66.276 serves as significant long-term support.
Looking ahead, the AUD/INR pair is expected to trade within a narrow band of ₹67.5047 and ₹68.1831 over the next two to three trading days. The baseline scenario predicts continued downside risk for the pair, with a low probability for an upward move in this time frame.
