Indian Rupee Tumbles as Oil Prices Soar Amid US-Iran Tensions
The Indian Rupee (INR) has fallen further against the US Dollar (USD), extending its decline from the previous day. The USD/INR pair jumped marginally above 95.00, with surging energy prices battering the INR significantly.
The price of crude oil rose sharply, with the MCX Crude Oil contract expiring on September 21 trading higher by over 2% to near Rs. 8,920.
Currencies from economies reliant on oil imports, such as India's, tend to underperform in a high-oil-price environment, making the INR particularly vulnerable.
