India's Economic Agenda Takes Center Stage at G20 Finance Meeting
Reserve Bank of India Governor Sanjay Malhotra recently attended the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors (FMCBG) meeting in Asheville, North Carolina. During the two-day event, he engaged with global counterparts on key economic and financial priorities.
Malhotra also met with Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh and International Monetary Fund's First Deputy Managing Director Dan Katz on the sidelines of the meeting. India is participating in the G20 FMCBG meeting, led by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who is promoting sustainable growth, trade, and investment.
The US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stressed the need for stronger global economic growth, higher investment, and better productivity to tackle growing debt. India aims to strengthen its economic ties with G20 countries and present itself as a major hub for manufacturing, technology, and innovation.
Finance Minister Sitharaman held talks with UK Chancellor of the Exchequer John Healey on trade and investment cooperation and met 3M CEO William Brown to discuss India's manufacturing, technology, and skilled workforce. The meeting also focused on global economic growth, financial stability, rising debt, trade, investment, and reforms to the international financial system.
