Indigenous Institutions Unite Across Tasman for Australian Investment Push
Indigenous Business Australia (IBA) and Waikato-Tainui, two of the largest Indigenous investment institutions in Australia and New Zealand, have formed a long-term partnership to invest in major Indigenous-led projects across Australia.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), signed at the weekend in Hamilton, will allow IBA and Waikato-Tainui to explore opportunities for expansion into Australian mining and critical minerals, as well as long-term infrastructure assets and projects spanning energy, water, transport, and logistics.
IBA chair Darren Godwell described the agreement as a shift in the role Indigenous institutions play in capital markets, stating that it will see hundreds of millions of dollars' worth of offshore capital flow into Australia's Indigenous economy.
