Indonesia Grants Special Treatment to Australia, Canada, China, and US Under Export Policy
Indonesia has decided to grant special treatment to Australia, Canada, China, and the US under its natural resources export proceeds policy. This means companies from these countries can choose whether to keep their earnings in state-owned banks or private ones, with a mandated minimum share of just 30 percent and placement duration of three months.
The decision was made by Coordinating Economy Minister Airlangga Hartarto, who stated that the four countries have bilateral agreements with Indonesia. The special treatment is stipulated in Government Regulation No. 21/2026, which has been in force since June.
Airlangga added that companies from these countries are subject to this special treatment, not those exporting to these markets. Edi Prio Pambudi, an undersecretary at the Office of the Coordinating Economy Minister, emphasized that the policy will be reevaluated after the three-month retention period expires.
