Iran Trade Plummets Amid US Sanctions and Naval Blockade
Iran's trade has been severely impacted by US sanctions and naval blockade. According to President Masoud Pezeshkian, imports and exports have declined by 25-35 percent, with a greater decline in imports.
Pezeshkian dismissed the notion that sanctions had no impact on Iran, stating 'The statement that sanctions have no impact is not in line with these facts.'
In response to the economic pressure, Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei called for greater economic independence and asked for the main role of the US dollar to be gradually reduced.
