Iran War Costs Estimated at Over $150 Billion
The US military operation against Iran may have already cost the American economy more than $151 billion. This is according to an analysis by The Telegraph, which looked at both direct and indirect consequences of the conflict.
The Pentagon officially acknowledges expenses of only $37.5 billion for the war, but experts believe this amount reflects only a fraction of the real costs. Harvard University professor Linda Bilmes notes that the official estimate does not take into account long-term costs such as servicing the national debt and rising fuel prices.
According to The Telegraph, the war has led to a noticeable rise in energy prices: gasoline prices in the US were about 21.7% higher than they would have been without the conflict, while diesel prices were 36.7% higher.
