Iranian Rial Plunges to New Low Amid Regional Tensions
The dollar exchange rate in Iran's free market has reached an all-time high, breaking a new record on September 9. The Iranian rial (toman) has been affected by the ongoing military confrontation in the region.
According to reports from the 'Azad Iran' Telegram channel, the dollar was traded at 233,900 tomans, while the British pound sterling and euro were exchanged for 316,000 tomans and 272,000 tomans respectively. The price of gold, specifically the 'Emami' coin, has also increased to 242 million tomans.
This significant surge in exchange rates comes after a sharp increase of approximately 13% compared to two weeks ago when the dollar was trading at 206,400 tomans.
