Iranian Rial Reaches Record Low Amid Expected Sanctions

The Iranian rial hit an all-time low of 2.02 million to one US dollar on currency markets as trading opened.

This comes after a promise from the Trump administration that stronger sanctions than those already in place would be announced Monday, including secondary sanctions on countries continuing to do business with Iran.

The rial had been under pressure before the US and Israel attacked Iran on February 28.
