Iranian Toman Crashes to Record Low Against Dollar Amid Trump Sanctions Threats
The Iranian Toman hit a new record low against the US Dollar on Monday, August 31. The dollar reached an all-time high of 209,250 tomans during trading hours. This milestone comes after President Trump reiterated Washington's commitment to intensifying economic pressure and enforcing a naval blockade against Iran.
Despite reaching a peak of 207,550 tomans on Sunday, the dollar experienced a slight dip before resuming its upward trajectory. By 12:15 PM Iran time, Tehran's forward-market dollar rate surpassed 208,000 tomans for the first time, topping out at 209,250 tomans.
The military officials from the Islamic Republic maintain that US sanctions and blockades have no impact on Iran's economy. This statement contradicts recent statements from President Trump, who emphasized Washington's commitment to enforcing economic pressure.
