Iraq Central Bank Denies Dollar Rate Change Claims Amid Social Media Rumors
The Central Bank of Iraq denied reports claiming it would change the US dollar exchange rate to 1,460 dinars per dollar on September 6.
The bank's official data lists the current rate at 1,310 dinars per dollar, and any unmanaged shift in the rate could ripple through salaries, food prices, and household savings.
CBI media director Haider Ghazi stated that the reports were intended to destabilize the economy and the exchange rate.
This is not an isolated incident; the CBI previously rejected a forged document claiming the government had requested a new rate of 1,600 dinars per dollar in June.
