Irish Poker Open Makes International Debut in Sydney
The Irish Poker Open has made history by venturing beyond Europe's borders and onto the international stage. For the first time in its 46-year history, the tournament will be held in Sydney, Australia, from August 31 to September 14, 2026. The event is part of a brand-new global series called Irish Open International.
The festival will feature 15 days of intense play, with over 40 tournaments and total guarantees exceeding 1,850,000 AUD. The Main Event, with a buy-in of 2,000 AUD and a guaranteed prize pool of one million Australian dollars, is set to kick off on Sunday, September 6.
The tournament has already generated interest, with four players securing a spot in Day 2 through a special remote Day 1 in Dublin. Oliver Hutchins is among the advancing players, along with series ambassador Chris Dowling.
