Jackson Hole Summit to Explore Financial Innovation and Its Impact on Payments and Policy
The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City will host its annual Jackson Hole Economic Policy Symposium this week at the Jackson Lake Lodge in Wyoming. The event, titled 'Financial Innovation: Implications for Payments and Policy', brings together experts from around the world to discuss the impact of financial innovation on payments and policy.
The symposium begins on Thursday, August 27th with an opening reception and dinner hosted by Jeffrey Schmid, President & CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. On Friday, August 28th, participants will engage in several sessions, including a keynote address by Kevin Warsh, Chairman of the Board of Governors at the Federal Reserve System.
Warsh's speech is expected to be closely watched, as his previous statements on interest rates have been cryptic and left markets guessing. The session will also feature presentations from experts such as Eswar Prasad (Cornell) and Darrell Duffie (Stanford), who will discuss the implications of financial innovation on the international monetary system and tokenized finance.
The symposium continues on Saturday, August 29th with sessions focused on financial innovation and its impact on banking and central banking. Participants include Christine A. Parlour (UC Berkeley) and Markus K. Brunnermeier (Princeton), among others.
