The annual gathering of central bankers has been a tradition since 1978, and about an hour's drive south from the meeting site is the bustling tourist town. However, real estate prices have skyrocketed, making it difficult for workers in service-oriented businesses to find affordable housing.
Margaret Brady, owner of Knit on Pearl, a knitting supply store with 30 years of history in Jackson, shared her concerns with Marketplace host Kai Ryssdal. Despite the challenges, Brady remains optimistic about the local economy.
