Jakarta Stocks Slip as Investors Await Fed Clarity
Indonesian stocks closed lower on Friday as investors waited for clarity from the Federal Reserve on interest rates. The Jakarta Composite Index slipped 0.06%, or 3 points, to finish at 6,518 after trading between 6,495 and 6,566.
The market saw a total of 35.2 billion shares change hands, with turnover reaching Rp15.1 trillion ($853.37 million) across over 2 million transactions.
Pilarmas Investindo Sekuritas said the appointment of Destry Damayanti as Bank Indonesia governor for the 2026-2031 term provided a positive domestic signal, reducing uncertainty over monetary policy and boosting market confidence in Indonesia's financial markets.
