Japan and US Agree on Orderly Yen Movement for Market Stability
Japanese Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama met with US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on Monday to discuss global market stability. They agreed that orderly yen movement is critical for this goal, and confirmed continued cooperative measures would contribute to it.
Katayama attended the Group of 20 finance leaders' gathering and spoke to reporters afterwards. When asked if recent yen moves were orderly, she declined to comment.
The two officials discussed Japan's fiscal policy and earlier coordinated yen intervention among other topics, according to a senior Japanese finance ministry official present at the meeting.
