Japan and US Reaffirm Yen Coordination Commitment
Japan and the US have reaffirmed their commitment to coordinating on yen moves, which is crucial for global market stability.
Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama said after a meeting with US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent that they agreed to continue their efforts to achieve an orderly yen exchange rate.
Katayama stated that the recent yen's slide to around 160 per dollar has drawn attention, but she declined to comment on whether it was orderly or not.
The bilateral talks were held on the sidelines of the G20 finance leaders' gathering in Asheville, North Carolina, and marked the first face-to-face meeting between the two since last month's joint yen intervention.
