Japan and the US conducted their first joint intervention to support the yen since 2011 on Friday, marking a significant move in currency markets.

The coordinated action saw both countries step in to stabilize the Japanese currency, with Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama confirming the move on Monday morning.

In a statement to the press, Katayama said that Japan would 'not hesitate' to take further action if needed to support the yen.

This comes after US President Donald Trump stated that Tokyo had asked for 'a little bit of help' on the yen from the US, indicating a close collaboration between the two countries in addressing currency market volatility.
