Japan Bond Yields Soar to Decade High Amid Global Rate Rise
Japanese Government Bond (JGB) yields have seen a significant surge in recent times, with the 30-year yield hitting 4.14%, its highest level since 2000 except for a brief spike in May 2026.
This rapid increase has narrowed the U.S.-Japan rate spread to decade lows and is pushing global interest rates higher, affecting countries such as Korea, France, the UK, and Germany.
Despite interventions by authorities, the Japanese yen continues to weaken due to investor skepticism about the Bank of Japan's policy credibility and Japan's fiscal outlook.
